Real Value for Money
CDC offers real value for money in its operational matrix of services and facilities.
Against predicted power cost rises of between 50 and 100 per cent in the next five years, CDC’s hot aisle containment solution - the world’s most efficient cooling system - saves at least 50 per cent in power bills in comparison with perimeter cooling.
Importantly, the CDC capacity pricing model makes it easy to scale up or down over the course of a contract. Using traditional perimeter cooled infrastructure it is impossible to scale up from 150kw to 300kw and then to 500kw of IT load in the same footprint without incurring additional costs for UPS, electrical components and additional cooling infrastructure.
The CDC solution removes many of the operational challenges facing data centre teams and provides the benefits of moving to a standardised physical infrastructure environment with sophisticated central monitoring.
These benefits provide significant savings in time and money over the course of a contract, for example eliminating the need for trips to the data centre for auditing and monitoring. The CDC solution, due to its design superiority, provides continuing savings by removing the cost of ongoing changes to data cabling and electrical reticulation. Clients gain further significant savings through not needing to source racks and associated infrastructure, which are included in CDC’s solution.
The CDC pricing includes all fit-out costs, including all major electrical components.
CDC’s Hume facility is energy efficient, reflecting its superior, state-of-the-art insulation. Construction is modular and flexible, with floor space and high density racks from 7.5 to 30 kilowatts per rack.
CDC has call on at least 12 megawatts of power to handle expansion.
The facility is fully automated and - never before available - provides readable, real-time data on power usage, heat and humidity.
Facility security is ASIO T4 certified as a ‘Secure Area’ in accordance with the requirements of the Protective Security Manual (PSM) and accordance with the requirements of ACSI33 and meets requirements of the Australian intelligence community and ICON connectivity.
Importantly, the Hume centre is a Tier 3 facility, with an Uptime Institute rating incorporating full fail safes and concurrent maintenance.

Canberra Data Centres (CDC) have been able to shift the Data Centre paradigm to the next generation today. The Data Centre can address power and cooling densities of up to 30kW per rack by using the APC by Schneider Electric Closed Coupled Cooling and Hot Aisle Containment methodology. This methodology, combined with the dynamic allocation of power & cooling in a just in time manner, achieves energy efficiency savings of up to 65% when compared to traditional facilities Click here to view.
